  • eyewonder ad is definitely a pain if its automatic on page load - its funky and not a pain if it is user initiated..
  • I wonder if there will ever be a happy medium with these types of ads
  • Not when you have started showing the desired content - once people can see what they want to see, to have it covered up is too interruptive and is too much of a pain.

    By showing an ad before showing the desired content, whilst still more irritating than not seeing it at all, there is more of a value exchange though there is a limit to this. (imagine everytime you clicked a link you saw an ad.. publishers chould show an ad every X clicks or just the first entrance maybe).

    Of course that only works if everyone adopts it.. or if there is a unique value to the content. Otherwise visitors will leave in droves for other sites that do not interrupt.
  • I agree - yet advertisers continue to push the annoyance envelope to see
    what people will tolerate.
