I just noticed a drop down box near a Google SEM ad tonight that I have not seen before. It could be an old feature, but I have not seen it in the wild.
I did some more searches and found the below screen shot showing NewEgg displaying multiple items that technically match my query:

I am not sure how new this is but it definitely introduces some questions for me into search. If the entire ad loads say 4 ads, then how does the advertiser track impressions? Are clicks on the 3rd drop down item tracked differently than the 3rd SEM ad? There are a few other areas to explore with this ad format regarding accountability, features, and effectiveness. I will report back when I find out the answers.
I think this makes sense as the ads I have seen so far have been from NewEgg and Ebay (large SEM advertisers) and provide relevant products that show and tell me how they relate to my query. These ads are similar to the YouTube drop downs that came out before that showed video right within the Sponsored Results area.
Anyone else seeing interesting SEM ads?
