Seth Godin is inviting potential readers of his new book Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us to join a private invite only social network. If you pre-buy the book and send in a copy of your receipt to an address listed at his original post about the Triiibes community you will might gain entry.
From Seth’s post:
Members get a password and the privilege of meeting each other, posting thoughts, connecting to big ideas or projects and more. The site will include excerpts from the book as well as a chance to contribute to a new jointly-authored ebook, with full credit and links to the contributors. The contents of the tribe forum won’t be posted to the public until October, so it’s really the only way to participate until then.
This is already being posted about around the blogosphere and I recently joined in and made the purchase. I have always been happy with the books I have read by Seth and this new community feature actually ads an interesting component that intrigues me to participate. Rather than posting on my blog about book reactions and talking in the comments – this group presents a way of getting like minded people together. I do however wish it was public for others to read, but I understand the nature of wanting to let in people who have made the purchase.
