I came across the PubCon tips on giving a great presentation and wanted to share it with readers here.

Your ability to give a great presentation will help your career, ring a sales bell, or promote yourself effectively in an ever increasingly complex business world. Speaking with confidence is a skill that transcends the presentation and will help you throughout your life.

I agree with just about everything stated and I feel that its worth the read. I think of most in person meetings and conference calls in the same way and feel that pointers on public speaking can apply to all parts of life.

One of the most beneficial parts of having this blog and podcast has been going back over my own audio and hearing what I actually sound like. Advice like “record yourself and watch it to see what others see” is rarely followed. I am here to tell you that it is probably the single most beneficial part of practicing presenting. You can practice all you want – but you will never truly grasp how you are doing unless you are the audience for yourself. Sound too complicated? Leave a voicemail for yourself or use a free conference service to record your next sales pitch and have a listen. I promise you will not regret the time spent to set this up.
