UPDATED 11/13/06 – 9:50am – all seems back to normal. I did not recieve official word from Del.icio.us but thank goodness my links are back. Reminder: BACKUP EVERYTHING.

It seems that Delicious.com, the popular web 2.0 tagging website, is having problems this evening. It is currently 8:22pm EST 11/12/06 and my account along with many others appears to have disappeared.

First let me say that I love delicious and I have been using the service since its inception. Second, this brings up the very scary realization that if my account is in fact lost, I will have lost years of tagging and basically my entire online collection of links. This simply stresses the importance of backing things up, and our ever growing reliance on the “cloud of information” that we always assume is protected.

If nothing else this brings into perspective my own reliance on the networks of companies holding my password protected information. This spans across links, email, blogging, banking, messaging, etc… and it can all be lost\down in a second.

I just emailed the recommended support address and got a bounce back:

Yikes!

No official word yet from the folks at Yahoo \ Delicious Blog

I will be quick to update this post if and when I receive any information.
