
ABC/Disney announced on Monday that hit shows like Desperate Housewives, Lost, and Grey’s Anatomy will
be offered online for free (with commercials). I like this idea although if I were an advertiser paying $500k per :30 spot, I might have a bone to pick with ABC. The network plans to sell separate advertising commercials for the online version. If every television network and show took this approach I’d be psyched – especially given the rising cost of cable television.
Prediction: the Internet or rather, online video will drive down the cost of cable and satellite television – drastically.
