There are plenty of conferences happening in plenty of places – yet all I do is read about them from others. I understand that all employees, especially low level employees, cannot go to conferences like these – but some should get to go anyways. I think that businesses large or small should choose their key people who will attend this show anyways – and bring along 1 or 2 more low level employees. The fresh perspective and objectivity they will add to an otherwise “run of the mill” conference, will be well worth the extra expense.
Here are some recent conferences that I would have loved to go to – yet had to read about on blogs and on the web:

Emerging Technology (ETech)
As reminded by Fred Wilson.
ETech is a great show put on by the great people at O’Reilly. As described on their site:
For the past five years, the O’Reilly Emerging Technology Conference has found new networked innovations before they hit the mainstream.
Do you need a better reason than that?

OMMA West – which is Mediaposts great show. I reccomend subscribing if you do not already.
(Thanks AdRants)

SWSX The South by Southwest “Festival”
Here is the SWSX description:
brings together uber-geeks, tech entrepreneurs, and digital innovators from around the world for four days of keynote speeches, Trade Show, panels, parties and assorted evening fun.
I mean who wouldn’t want to go?
The enormous impact this would have on an employee that just started in the business – or someone that would not normally get to go on a “business trip” would have a HUGE impact on how they view their colleagues as well as your business. I view these trips with a team member that may not get the normal chance to go as one of the most important things you can do to boost individual and overall moral.
Some of you may think this is a post about jealousy. Well, you are right
